Description

The Pinot Noir Barrique AOC Visperterminen is a premium Swiss red wine that showcases the extraordinary heights of alpine viticulture. Crafted by the renowned St. Jodern Kellerei in the Wallis (Valais) canton, this exceptional Pinot Noir is aged to perfection in oak barrels (barriques). The grapes are harvested from some of the highest vineyards in Europe, growing on dramatic, sun-drenched terraces at elevations up to 3,770 feet (1,150 meters) above sea level. This extreme alpine terroir yields a wine of unmatched character, elegance, and depth.

This exquisite wine pours a beautiful cherry-red color and opens with a slightly smoky, noble aroma. On the palate, it delivers a complex flavor profile rich with notes of smooth caramel, roasted coffee, and rich dried fruits. With a robust 14% alcohol by volume, it features perfectly integrated tannins and a long, velvety finish shaped by the unique glacial mineral soils of the Visperterminen region. It possesses an excellent cellaring potential, beautifully maturing over a peak ripeness window of 3 to 7 years.

Gastronomical Food Pairing:
The structured body and savory complexity of this barrel-aged Pinot Noir make it an ideal companion for high-end dining. It pairs magnificently with a classic American roast beef, grilled lamb meat, and wild venison dishes. It is also an excellent match for rich cheese specialties and charcuterie boards, elevating any culinary experience. Serve at a preferred cellar temperature of 60–64 °C (16–18 °C).

Following harvest, the wine undergoes a careful aging process in premium oak barrels (barriques). This traditional technique infuses the liquid with its trademark noble smoky smell and sophisticated tasting notes of smooth caramel, freshly roasted coffee, and dried fruit. The resulting barrel-aged profile offers a very good influence on the palate, striking a flawless balance between alpine freshness and structural power.
